In the cinematic world there are numerous trailers that exhibit special characteristics and are known to be slightly “different” than traditional movie trailers. Here are some of them:
PSYCHO (1960)
Alfred Hitchcock’s playful non-montage, behind-the-scenes trailer.

For an interesting story of the advertisement for Psycho, see “How Hitchcock Got People To See ‘Psycho’”
THE EXORCIST (1973)
Flashing, black and white images, to which many reported vomiting, with one of the most disturbing scores ever made.

CITIZEN KANE (1941)
An anti-trailer making fun of film marketing and celebrity culture. Does not really focus on the movie itself.

For more information on the Citizen Kane movie trailer, see the article “Watch Orson Welles’ Trailer for Citizen Kane: As Innovative as the Film Itself“
THE SHINING (1980)
A single-shot trailer which gave only a snippet of the movie (and the most bloody one, I guess).
